Well well well, fun and games all 'round since I last shot my keyboard off, hahahaha!

Where do I start?

How about... Marc Auerbach getting a severe case of the trots from that meal we had the night of his Wellington gig... took a day and night of intense boozing in AK with Burgess and Chris Hogan to recover, but he still rocked at Kase apparently (even if he did do the whole set with his arsehole gaffer-taped shut)... I hear very very dodgy things about the financial outcome of the night however... none of my beeswax but certain AK promoters and DJs should get rearview mirrors attached to their heads if you get my drift...

The fallout from that particular night may be felt for a while methinks... much like the fallout from my AK writeup... yuk yuk.

Now... sorry sorry sorry if anyone took PERSONAL offence but if you did...

BITE ME!

For the first time in my life I actually find myself liking AK a lot, nice peeps, great clubs and bars, good record and clothing shops etc, and the skytower goes off...

That whole AK vs Welli thing bit the dust years ago and I have no wish to restart it....

Oh jesus, and as for some of the sad individuals on the Psurkit mailing list...

EAT ME!

I like animated debate about DJs, clubs and choons as much as the next person, but keep it where it's supposed to be:

  • 6am with a cup of tea and spliff
  • playing pool with Heineken and tequila chasers
  • over a good curry

Not sitting at a keyboard where there's no one to say "hang on, aren't you getting a bit wound up by nothing in particular here?" and Geoff... calm down mate, you've got one of the best record shops and probably THE best D&B night in the country, there's no need to launch personal attacks on people who are down with the programme (me)... and as for Mr Treasury who did a critique on my styles over the past two years... get a big dog up ya sphincter boy, i don't talk to beancounters.

So yesss... anyway, I solemnly swear not to call AK "dorkland" anymore, 'nuff said.

Right, what else...

Zinc was alternately described as "not all that" or "the shit", I flagged the gig (and a "Streets of Laredo" - type confrontation with a certain Metalhead) but heard the La Luna (un) soundsystem lived up to its reputation as the worst for playing D&B on in the country (heard Herzog rocked the night before though)...

Myself, Schmoo and Andee are out of Luna as of last Friday due to ownership wrangles and the basic economic fact that house heads don't sink as much piss as hip-hop peeps. Oh dear, how sad, nevermind. The boys are still doing Judder Bar on Thursday night and the odd Discotek international, I'm taking a breather for while in anticipation of Xmas hols in Melbourne (and a mad spendup in Sydney)...

Ritchie Broke (and maybe Pop Up) will be back in at Luna with the hip-hop this weekend I think, good job too, I kinda missed having a place that played phat shit every weekend, you don't need to go there all the time but on occasion it's cool (hearing Blackstreet's "No Diggidy" on a biscuit one night was great! I love Teddy Reilly)...

Anyway, oh yeah, Vision On at Luna nearly became Vision Off as the lighting and speaker cabling came close to being extracted on Saturday afternoon... luckily the man Sweet (whose gear it is) was reasonable in the face of extreme financial upwinding.

They got a few people though, I dropped in for about five minutes while on a munchie mission to the 24-hour shop... always good to have a chinwag with Clarkee, and as for Mark Burgess... the bastard has THE choons on the house tip at the mo' including Those Norwegian's "Kaminsky Park" EP on Paper... My main Sye tells me he tore shit up the previous night at Kase, well done guys... best of luck to Mark with the ciggy-retty givvy uppy too, everyone else hide the sharp objects and watchout for nicotine-withdrawl-psychosis...

While we're on the house DJ-tip, Welli people are well advised to check out AK Box resident and BPM Records 'spotter Greg Churchill whe he plays before Miles Holloway on the 18th...respek is due an' all that...

Right, what else... Psurkit Belch! (or whatever it was called) was a heaving, throbber of a night I hear, turntable newcomer Dunc rocked from all accounts, onya man...

Roots roots roots! Roots Foundation's 5th b'day WENT OFF, haven't seen that many peeps upstairs at ESC for ages. Talk about the great unwashed though, five years without a bath perhaps?

Lemon did the business with a roots set that had everyone skanking (a potentially ugly business with that many white kiddies in the area)... missed Stinky Jim's set which was a bugger, he was ace on the radio that evening I must say, man gots mad tunes... congrats and best wishes to the Rooters... blah blah, okay...

The Ninja Tune gig this weekend is unmissable, Miles Holloway (not Elliot Eastwick as pictured in Pavement) next weekend is unmissable (and don't forget to check out Greg C), "Magic" Juan Atkins and PFM the weekend after that (Labour Weekend) are unmissable... you peeps had better be saving yo' sheckles... mmmm, October looks very money... speaking of which...

Everyone seen Swingers yet? Phenomenal stuff... I wish I was Trent, now there's a man who is soooo money it's just unphuckingbelievable... woof!

Oooh oooh, before I forget, any DJ-types out there who fancy playing the too many iffy tingle tokens/dodge the bogan/ paint your face/ knit your own yogurt/ dig-your-own-pooh-hole game (slightly more fun than the "dig-your-own-K-hole" game so popular in AK) on New Years Eve at The Gathering should call Alison on: 04 472 8255 and send a tape through post haste... not bloody me though, I'm off to Sir Carl Cox in Ozzy, woohoo! Coxy! Coxy! Coxy! Yaaaaay!!!

Peace to all, any gripes are your problem so keep them to yourself or start your own bloody website... Clint :)
