ON STAGE:Pitch Black / Salmonella Dub / The Nomad / Jet Jaguar + Roots Foundation Sound System

BASSTECH are proud to present four of the finest live dance acts Aotearoa has to offer, profiled over eight subsonic hours at 'Freefall' - a one night journey through NZ bass culture as fresh as gets for '98.

PITCHBLACK are Paddy Free and Mike Hodgson, Auckland-based multimedia mavericks whose live show is a pulsing take on breakbeat, dub and house alongside unique customised visuals constructed in real time with the music, via groundbreaking software Hodgson has developed which triggers video images from the keyboard as it is played. PITCHBLACK have played numerous underground gigs to stunning reviews, and are true musical pioneers in NZ.Pitchblack promise a water tight set that moves the head, heart, and hip - and alone warrant a must-see status at Freefall. The debut Pitchblack CD Futureproof hits the shelves this week.

SALMONELLA DUB are New Zealand's foremost live dub outfit. Their critically acclaimed album ''Calming of the Drunken Monkey' only scratches the surface of the Salmonella Dub experience: seeing them live reveals all.

SALMONELLA DUB have just returned from a series of sold-out Australian dates. Nominated in 5 categories for the BFM NZ music awards, this Christchurch band move from strength to strength and have commenced working on a new LP, to be released ealy in 1999. Salmonella Dub return to Australia 22 September for shows with the Cruel Sea and a support slot in Sydney alongside Money Mark.

THE NOMAD brings his one man groovealistical army to Freefall, armed with bad ass jungle beats and hiphop basslines textured with down the line scratches and samples.

JET JAGUAR is Aphex Twin`s secret cousin, living and producing right here in Wellington.

THE ROOTS FOUNDATION DJs continue to drop the dubplate pressure, make no mistake.
