k/not

An unusual C.D.R. release is being presented at the Odeon on Mt Eden rd on May 6th .

Originally composed for an art context, the 20 minute track called "k/not" was created in 1998 out of a 5 second sample from Jimi Hendrix by an artist specialising in conceptual electronic sound, ~not.

This journey of digital manipulation was then given to some of Aucklands most contemporary electronic musicians to experiment with and reinterpret .

The result is an texturally eclectic and beautifully mastered CDR with a compilation of tracks from eleven artists ranging from rotor and Lovely Midget to audioslut and Mood Unit.

Samples in mp3 format are also included for anyone else to continue the remix project.

'Listening post' is the theme of the evening, with many of the artists featured in "k/not" playing short but succinct sets, so get in early as the evening will kick off at 7.00pm promptly.

Information about "k/not" will be located at www.k-not.org and the C.D.R is available in selected music shops after May
