Wellington duo The Upbeats are primed to follow in the footsteps of breakthrough producers Concord Dawn with the release of their debut self-titled album. Tracks from the album are poised to be released through a swag of some of the most respected labels in the world including Vicious Music Group, Incite Recordings and Hostile Recordings in the US, and Protogen Recordings in Germany.

The duo, Jeremy Glenn and Dylan Jones, have joined fellow locals Concord Dawn, Bulletproof and Shapeshifter in stamping Aotearoa's brand of drum'n'bass firmly on the world stage. Loop Recordings Aot(ear)oa are proud to present their debut album, The Upbeats, which brings together an impressive spectrum of broken beat tracks. Ranging from the hard as nails workouts of 'Late Night Fright' and 'Binge Drinker' (the latter famously recorded at the Dargaville RSA) through to the effortlessly melodic 'More Than Me', the album shows an impressive knack for catchy hooks and dancefloor stormers.

Previously released material by The Upbeats has included 'US Hermits' on the Alpine Unity compilation, Passenger and 'Deep Breath' appearing on the Fabel Music compilation In 2 Deep. Their latest track, 'Psyesta', made the cut on the recently released Loop 005 Select and has enjoyed widespread radio play. But the biggest break for the duo came last year when The Upbeats made contact with UK's drum'n'bass don DJ Digital. Both kept to their promise to stay in touch with The Upbeats sending tracks to Digital throughout last year. Digital liked what he heard and promptly signed The Upbeats to his very own Timeless Music Group - expect a vinyl only release of the single 'Basket Case' later this year. In the last few months, tracks from The Upbeats have been signed to German producer Typecell's Protogen Recordings and three prominent US labels: Hostile Recordings, Incite Recordings and Habit Recordings. The Upbeats also expect to release a single for New Zealand drum'n'bass label, Subtronix Recordings, later this year. Perhaps most impressive was their achievement in getting four tracks signed to US label Vicious Music Group. Vicious is set to subsequently release tracks on their three labels: Ballistics Recordings, Afterlife Recordings and Mozaik Recordings.

The Upbeats plan extensive touring to promote the album. NZ tour dates include Queenstown and Nelson gigs in mid February tba, followed by Wellington on February 27, Christchurch February 28 and Dunedin March 6. Guests on the tour include Concord Dawn, Confucius, MC Kyla and Pylonz. The Upbeats will also play support to Shapeshifter on their upcoming album release tour in late March. An Aotearoa drum'n'bass showcase tour with Bulletproof, Concord Dawn and Shapeshifter is also scheduled for later this year.
