LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa, in association with The Green Party of New Zealand, are pleased to announce the release of The Green Room 004: Hope. This is the final edition in a series of four CD releases that has aimed to encourage cultural and environmental awareness, and positive change in our everyday lives.
New Zealanders have long recognised the beauty of the space they inhabit on this planet. We enjoy a blend of cultural diversity, a rich tradition, countless awe-inspiring landscapes and a plethora of unique eco-systems. LOOP and the Green Party recognise this is worth preserving. However, there is an ever-increasing realisation that, in order to protect what we have we need to change how we live.
Rewind. In 2002 LOOP and Green Party MP Nandor Tanczos joined forces to kick off The Green Room 001: Eco Nation. The successful Green Room series was born. On the three volumes released, featured artists have shared their thoughts and feelings with unmatched honesty, supporting The Green Party's vision for a better future. The series has been enjoyed from Christchurch to Auckland, Sydney to Los Angeles and from London to Berlin. The Green Room series has encompassed LOOP's own desires to take our creative culture worldwide.
The Green Room 004: Hope features music from some of the most popular people in the Aotearoa music scene, including Fat Freddy's Drop, Rhian Sheehan, The Phoenix Foundation, Ladi6, Rhombus, Kora, Recloose, Opensouls and TrinityRoots.
The creative lens of this compilation has focused on the consumption of fossil fuels, primarily the running of transportation. As with previous editions, Green Room 004: Hope has an ethos of individual responsibility, and issues a challenge to the listener to consciously and responsibly take control of their general consumption.
As Green Party heavyweight Nándor Tanczos illustrates, politics is equally about how we vote, as how we live:
"Hope does not come from ignoring reality. It results from understanding the threat before us and knowing that a true heart will find the way through." - Nándor Tanczos
