Nathan Haines · Squire For Hire · Festival Mushroom Records · 2003
Nathan Haines is a new breed of jazz musician. Coming from a very musical family he was classically trained in his native New Zealand on flute and saxophone.
Nathan and Phil Asher have put together a heavyweight group of collaborators on Squire for Hire including Mark de Clive Lowe, Shelley Nelson, Vanessa Freeman, Philadelphia based producer/poet Rich Medina, Marcus Begg, Guida da Palma, Reel People producer/keyboardist Mike Patto, Nathan's bass playing father Kevin Haines as well as Marlena Shaw and Blur front-man Damon Albarn making guest appearances.
The first single Right By Your Side was performed at the legendary Southport Soul Weekender alongside the likes of Louie Vega, Timmy Regisford and Roy Ayers.
In the words of Marlena Shaw, "get your soul satisfied, get your brain a little fried, by the Squire for Hire-he'll naturally set your soul on fire!"
This is a top little Jazz cd and its out now on Festival Mushroom records!
