Magnolia - Shimmer

Introducing the debut ep "Shimmer" by Dunedins own Trip Hop outfit Magnolia.

Described as 'Sexy Ambience with Blunted Beats' by George Zahora of Splendid, Magnolia bring their own downbeat flavas to the masses.

Magnolia was originally a collaboration between Lou Kewene and Stephen Small, a pair of musicians from the Pacific, hailing from Dunedin, New Zealand, where everyone plays guitar.

Stephen was completing a Masters degree on Burt Bacharach and teaching at Otago University when the two decided to make some music.

Stephen is a successful music collaborator with many successful projects to his name including string arrangements for Pacifier, the Exponents and Augustino.

Lou Kewene hails from a dirty rock 'n' roll background having treaded her way through the local Dunedin music scene with various bands and songwriting collaborations. With Magnolia Lou combines her loves of songwriting, electronica and producing.

Lou has recently arrived back in New Zealand after attending the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy 2003 in Cape Town South Africa.

The Red Bull Music Academy brings together DJs and music producers from diverse musical and cultural backgrounds to exchange ideas about music and life.

Lou had an amazing experience and is fueled with creative inspiration for a '04 Magnolia album release.

Stephen now resides in Auckland, while Lou continues Magnolia with input from Stephen and other creative creatures in Dunedin.
