Track Suite
Witness the birth of the next generation of Wellington musicians.
The concept for this event is to reveal the process of dance music for a new audience. We aim to do this by introducing the audience to a studio on stage, complete with samplers, synths, computers, producers and engineers.
The Audience will be invited up on stage with some of Wellington's most gifted local musicians as well as two international guests. The audience members who are chosen to participate will find themselves playing a part in the making of a unique and spontaneous dance music track, which will then be raced up to local dance friendly radio station Radio Active 89FM for its radio debut!
Track Suite is pleased to announce local performers The Unknown Soldier and Cuffy and Leon D. These performers will each be making a live track, which with the help of some gifted prodigy¹s will be recorded for its radio debut. These locals will also be being guided by up and coming international producers Common Factor and Recloose of Carl Craigs' Planet e Label, who are appearing at St Johns Ambulance building the same evening as a part of the Wellington Jazz Festival.
The organisers bringing the international artists; from Chicago and Detroit respectively; had said that they had wanted to provide something for all ages to experience. After they decided to use the licensed venue where the Jazz Festival is being held they came up with the idea of building a studio live on stage for the under 18s to listen to and learn about the music too, youth venue Zeal was the perfect venue for this.
The concert will run for about 5 hours in total and will include a warm up from local turntablist DJ RAW; the gig will be free and will run from midday Saturday 28th of October. With thanks to Red Bull.
