Over a year has passed since the New Zealand massive last welcomed Q-project and Spinback, the duo who make up the drum and bass production/dj'ing force known as Total Science.
In the fast progressing sound that is drum and bass Total Science have emerged as leaders. Their hard work has seen them have tracks released on such a diverse range of labels as 31 Records, True Playaz, CIA, Advanced, Metalheadz, Function, Timeless, Reinforced, Hospital Records, Crash Recordings, Industry, Legends, Good Looking, Moving Shadow, Creative Source, Prototype, Hardleaders, Partisan, Trouble On Vinyl and Renegade Hardware.
Hardly a week goes by without yet another fresh Total Science anthem emerging on dubplate and absolutely smashing up the dancefloors of DnB clubland. Their sound is, funky and uplifting combining furious breakbeats with the deepest and dirtiest sub bass all with a jungle twist.
Total Science's 14 year history begins in 1988 when they met thru a mutual love of hip hop and electro. By 1990 they were in the studio together experimenting with techno breakbeat fusions. Q-projects early releases included the seminal 'Champion Sound' in 1993, which they would both go on to remix for their debut album in 2000 to devastating effect.
By 1995 they had started their own label CIA and the rest is pretty much history. Check the absolute legion of twelve inches these men have released over the past few years and there is no denying their status as two of the finest producers and dj's working within drum and bass.
