Sift Heavy W/ Special Guest Dj Cian (ak)

"When I was a kid, Music brought people together and livened up our house" states Cian O'Donnell, respected DJ and driving force behind Auckland institutions Conch Records and The Turnaround. "It visibly changed people's moods and everyone seemed more alive." Fast forward a few decades and not much has changed , except that Cian is now the one changing the records and putting smiles on the dials of punters and music aficionados alike.

A lifetime of eclectic music appreciation makes it impossible to pin Cian down to a particular style. A typical 3 hour set will take in snippets of reggae and dub, hip hop, soul/jazz, Funk, Latin, chunky down tempo beats, broken business, and quirky house , the only criteria is that it's gotta be quality.

A traveller at heart, Cian has peddled his eclectic sound all over the globe, with DJ slots in various far flung locales including his native UK, the States, Brazil and Japan. Cian will be joining the musical dots between whatever genres he god damn feels like - armed with a bag of fresh goodies after a recent stint abroad, he'll be packing mo' new flavour for the Sift Heavy faithful

Come witness the fitness of one of New Zealand's top DJs as he joins Sift Heavy residents Duncan & Zen in the intimate setting of Cuba Street's Good Luck Bar. Sift Heavy focuses on music that has come from the right place and therefore should take you to the right place - fresh beats and tasty treats covering whatever genre, just as long as the music has heart, head and soul.
