Malty Media @ Katipo

This month's Malty Media night at Katipo will be a chance for a sneak preview of a whole lot of collaborative live jams. The Malty Media crew played a brief live set at Radio Active's 30th birthday last year, but have found a suitable opportunity to play a decent length showcase of "originals". The first release of their music on CD is just round the corner, a track on the forthcoming compilation 'Apropos of Nothing'.

Malty Media hosts Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar) & Stuart McDonald (Aquaboogie) have been tweaking, mixing and dispatching cryptic audio communiques since they first played together for a Radio Active live to air in 1995. Between them they've released 6 CDs, 3 records (you know, vinyl), and a further 6 online releases. With Andrew Loughnan (Group Five) they run the label Angry Rabbit.

The monthly Malty Media nights at Katipo are not a showcase of the hosts' solo carry-on. They're a chance to crack open freshly brewed Malty Media concoctions made specially for the occasion. Expect finely shredded pop culture artifacts, hazy childhood TV theme flashbacks, stirred in with this month's Malty Media homebrew.

Always a bit of a giggle, and some combination of pieces and bits to make your brain go "bip".
