Madmotormiquel + Soukie & Windish (GER) @ Mi Casa

For our first Mi Casa of 2015 we're stoked to bring you three of Berlin’s leading underground DJs – Madmotormiquel, and Soukie & Windish.

The parties they host in Europe are nothing short of legendary and their Wellington performance is sure to be a stand-out event for the year.

Madmotormiquel (GER) / Biography:

Madmotormiquel... First things first: Try pronouncing that. Or maybe don't – it's all about the music after all.

Born and raised in West Berlin, from an early age Michel Neigenfnd had only music and collecting records on his mind. He was first influenced by the Punk Rock music of the 70s and 80s. This, combined with his equally large passion for hip-hop paved the way to his first electronic productions. Big beat, drum ‚n‘ bass, acid techno, and early tribal stuff...

After attending his first Fusion festival in early 2000 as well as many illegal open air raves in Berlin, his passion for Techno and House steadily grew. Through his own event with Backstelzen, a collective that has greatly influenced the Berlin party scene, Michel’s course was set!

By 2006 his own productions started gathering appeal and in 2010 he released music with Sebo and Nayan Soukie on Sasse‘s label Mood Music.

Following further releases, the Boys Don‘t Eat EP on Katermukke brought a first taste of international success with high placings on the Beatport Techhouse charts (4. and 17.), as well as regular airplay on national and international radio. John Digweed even signed two tracks from the URSL 08 (Everything Will Change EP) and re-released them on his extremely successful Live In London mix. Further productions for Canadian, US and British labels followed as well as several releases on German labels.

Since 2010 Michel has been running the URSL Records label together with Sebo and Soukie & Windish. The steadily growing success of the label has contributed to Madmotormiquel’s travels far beyond the boundaries of Berlin!

Recent tours have included Brazil, and gigs all over Europe – over a hundred in 2012. Madmotormiquel’s productions have regularly featured in charts of notable Djs such as Martin Landsky, Tim Green, Tube & Berger, Robosonic and Dirty Döring. All this leaves us with the undoubtable impression Madmotormiquel knows what he‘s doing, in the studio as well as behind the decks!

Soukie & Windish (GER) / Biography:

Soukie & Windish became friends in the early noughties. As Nayan Soukie began creating hip hop loops and electro-clash sounds in his home studio, Fritz Windish was treating himself to a gap year holiday in Buenos Aires. With a bag full of dubplates in tow Fritz soon discovered that Argentinians aren't especially dancehall enthused but instead were into sound of raves. And so ironically Fritz had to first travel half the globe to discover musical sound of his homeland. All the while Nayan was discovering techno at illegal raves on the outskirts of Bremen.

Even today the duo's hometown of Bremen isn't exactly known as a stronghold of club-culture. In spite, or maybe because of this cultural bleakness a DIY generation of event-managers, producers and DJs arose, that started organizing parties in unusual- locations – away from classic disco establishments. From within this scene the Soukie & Windish production and DJ-duo was born and their “Knarzquadrat” parties quickly gained legendary status.

Together they moved to Hamburg where in 2008 their first EP was released by local label Eminor. Further singles follow shortly on 200 Records, Hi Freaks, Acker Records, Time Has Changed, Regular and Liebe* Detail. With each release they have continued to evolve and fine-tune their sound. Since then they have become regular guests at festivals such as like Fusion as well as running their own event Bachstelzen, with Madmotormiquel and playing the Bar25/Kater Holzig scene.

Soukie & Windish released their debut album “A Forest” in early 2013, a melodic house sound ranging from poppy through dub and dark atmospheric sounds.
