Start your weekend with a live reggaeton fiesta with Cuban reggaeton maestro, Jinetero MC. His fusion of salsa and hip hop rhythms with the Jamaican influences of reggae and dancehall is a sound rarely heard in New Zealand’s music scene.
Led by Jinetero MC, ‘The Jineteros’ features some top names from Wellington’s music scene with the likes of drummer and producer Maaka Phat as well as Christopher Yeabsley from Twinset on bass and keyboards. This reggaeton party is something you’ve gotta experience; cut to the edge of reggaeton and dance up the raw Cuban street energy which Jinetero MC brings to all his live shows.
Jinetero MC grew up with reggaeton in his blood. From age 9, he lived on the streets of Cuba soaking up everything from cultural politics to Cuba’s dance party culture. Currently living in Wellington, New Zealand, Jinetero MC transforms kiwi audiences into Cuban dance party fiends with his blend of Kiwi and Latin rhymes and rhythms rolled into high energy Latin fiesta.
In New Zealand, he has worked with legendary rappers such as Upper Hutt Posse and has performed at numerous well-known music festivals in both Australia and New Zealand. Be one of the first to hear his new music; soon to be released on his upcoming debut EP 'Que Calor'. Largely recorded in Cuba with Kiki Productions, one of the top reggaetón producers in the Latin world, Que Calor songs have already passed the Cuban test having been aired on radios across the island nation recently.
