Fat Freddy's Drop

FAT FREDDY'S DROP IN THE BAY

One of New Zealand's premier acts Fat Freddy's Drop, is playing O'Flahertys Irish Pub in Napier on Hawke's Bay Anniversary Weekend.

The show will be a rare live appearance by Wellington's famed midnight marauders who are currently hiding out in a beach side studio recording an album that is one of the most anticipated releases this summer, locally and in the UK and Europe where the Freddy's have a legion of fans.

Purveyors of a hypnotic groove of skanking urban Pacific roots, dub and electronic dance vibrations, Fat Freddy's Drop were awarded Best Live Act at the b-Net NZ Music Awards 2004. No two Freddy's gigs are ever the same, as the seven musicians jam each song into a supernova of soul and goodness.

Fat Freddy's Drop stars Joe Dukie, soulful vocalist and songwriter, Fitchie, award winning producer and MPC champion, Jetlag Johnson on gat, Dobie Blaze on keys, and a booty shaking horn section, Fulla Flash aka Warren Maxwell from TrinityRoots on saxophone, Hopepa on trombone and Clubba Laing, trumpet maestro.

The upcoming CD and double vinyl album follows a series of 12" vinyl releases, the anthem for a new generation, Hope, addictive down beat Midnight Marauders and This Room, savvy releases that have set alight dance floors worldwide, and the Gold selling CD, Live at The Matterhorn.

NEWSFLASH: Freddy's has enterted world of iTunes in the UK...

The Hope For A Generation EP has gone up on the iTunes store - on the front page of the store in the UK, France and Germany and also available in the US.... sitting alongside Destiny's Child, Charlie Parker, The Who.

The store is about to go pan European so people will be able to download the EP anywhere in Europe when that happens. All good!
