Club Meow - Live Session

• HI-TECH TONICS******

Wellington based Future-Soul duet “The Hi-Tech Tonics’ are comprised of Bass players Rio Hemopo (Trinity Roots, Breaks Co-op, Fly My Pretties) and Pet Johnson (Sons of Puha, Flash Fullas and Breathe). For the past 15 years both Pet & Rio have been regulars on the local & international live scene, this surprisingly is the first time the two friends have combined their vast skills, experience & knowledge on a musical project.
Being steeped in the roots of Soul & Funk and raised on a diet of Motown it has been a mutual desire to take these “Old School” influences & with a touch of technology, serve them up as a modern contemporary experience. eamlessly blending in and out of Live Jams and D.J. sets, weaving organic instruments into layers of futuristic beats. Mashing together and re-working the vintage melodies of the past into a futuristic soundscape the “Hi-Tech Tonics” confidently create, from the seeds of nostalgia a uniquely modern and completely original sound. This clash of old and new has effectively captured a very broad market, appealing to both the young and the old.
The physical and visual aesthetic is a positively fun contradiction, expect “Temptaions/Four Tops” stylized suits blended with the flashing lights of Kaoss Pads and IPads.
A night with the “Hi-Tech Tonics” is essentially a toe tapping Soul drenched journey with a touch of RnB, hints of HipHop and a splash of Reggae all fused together with modern beats & effects to create a fun and professional boogie down experience.
