Winter in Rio de Janeiro means temperatures of around 20 degrees. And people complain of the cold. Brazilian percussionist / MC Nego Beto finds it pretty hard to brave the frigid air of Queenstown in June. But the heat of the people, he says, makes up for it.
BrazilBeat Sound System hit Queenstown and Wanaka just in time for Winterfest. Catch them at Revolver Friday 26th, in Wanaka at Red Rock Sat 27th.
Then on Tuesday 30th on the Mardi-Gras main stage 5:30pm and the after-party of course, at Revolver.
Heavily spiked with guaraná, BrazilBeat Sound System is a high-octane rush from head to toe. The DJ-percussion electronic band originated in San Francisco, California, and have been uplifting crowds across New Zealand since 2001. Their genre-bending mashup of roots, baile-funk, break beats, dub is pumped up by tight percussive arrangements. BBSS released their debut album “Nova” in November 2007 on their own label Belezza.
