@ Junglettes :: Jan '06

Having grown up in Wellington NZ, Kim's tireless work in the community has been a breath of fresh air since moving to Australia in 2000. With track selection, mixing, and a smile that sets any dancefloor ablaze, de la Haye is one of Brisbane's most booked DJ's and a leading promoter whose contributions to the community have been critical in the rising popularity of Brisvegas Drum & Bass.

Her early musical influences range from De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Rage Against The Machine, Faith No More, At The Gates, The Cure, The Prodigy, Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, and it is perhaps in this that we find the blue print for Kim's track selection in her Drum & Bass sets. You can never quite be certain what you can expect to hear when you listen to her play, all that can be said is that the sound will be varied without boundaries of styles, the mixing will be on point, and instantly the vibe and atmosphere of any party will be tangible. Whether its dub or ragga vibes, driving neurofunk darkness, complex drum choppage, or progressive liquid sounds, de la Haye's sets seamlessly embody the variety that is the very heart and soul of Drum & Bass and offers something to fans of each movement.

@ Rude Bwoyz :: Sept '03

All of this has not gone unnoticed by promoters in Australia and NZ, as de la Haye continues to amass an impressive DJ resume. From being a regular of local Brisbane Drum & Bass monthlys such as Rude Bwoyz, Phat Albeats and Sundex, Kim's cross-genre appeal has also seen her feature at many non drum & bass raves including Earthcore, ReAnimator, Mayhem, and System 6. She has also played all around Australia including Sydney and Melbourne, and has returned twice to New Zealand for gigs including the massive 2006 Parachute Music Festival in Hamilton. Over the last few years, de la Haye has supported many international artists including Kenny Ken & MC Foxy, Ruffneck Souljah Recordings, High Contrast, Predator, Evol Intent, Chris.SU, SKC, Calyx, Dom & Roland, J Majik, Future Prophecies, Noisia and DJ Bailey.

What cannot be understated, is Kim's massive contribution to promoting in the Brisbane Drum & Bass community. In 2003 she formed 'Junglettes', an all-female Drum & Bass DJ crew devoted to giving the ladies of Brisbane an outlet for their own style of Drum & Bass. From beginning with nothing, de la Haye's 'Junglettes' have risen to the top of the local drum n bass scene with the reputation for a great party night with great music and great people. Not content with just running her hugely successful 'Junglettes', Kim is also responsible for promoting the dub n jungle nights 'Ragga'd' and 'Offshoots of Reggae', as well as the hard Drum & Bass night 'Rukus'.

de la Haye :: Aug '03

In 2005 she teamed up with Speaker Wrath and Rogue Element in an effort to re-inject Brisbane with world class international Drum & Bass dj's, booking artists such as Evol Intent, Calyx, Noisia, Dom & Roland, DJ Bailey, Chris.SU, and SKC. This incredible and often solo effort has been a driving force and integral part in the growth of Drum & Bass in Brisbane.

In 2006 as Brisbane Drum & Bass continues to push the envelope and break through the house dominated dance music scene you will see Kim de la Haye leading from the front. Whether it is DJ'ing or promoting, her never-ending devotion and contribution to the Brisbane Drum & Bass community will continue to be invaluable. Brisbane's leading lady of Drum & Bass also hopes to incorporate some turntablism into her sets, as well as lending more time to producing. Given the accomplishments and talent shown so far, where she will go from here no one can predict.
