Psionic

Psionic has been putting on parties for the last couple of years, under different guises. Initially Psycic Droid and the Biosphere venue (with co-conspiritor dj8) and more recently a string of one-off events definately in the hard trance/acid vein, with an assortment of djs, although LRS and the headstrong crew usually have made an an appearance.

Here is a personal perspective from that stressed out looking guy who used to have long hair that you usually see running around, spitting nails and looking busy while everyone else is dancing (I've got low blood pressure really)

After you've read these, have a look here to check out a Sonic Assessment of some other things.

Aspera

This nearly killed my. I was running the party, playing live with my whole studio rig at opening time, and doing sound engineering on a production at another venue until 20 minutes before I had to play. But by all accounts except mine, one of the best dancefloors of the year. The underground reaches a new level. After the live set I drove home, had a shower and chilled. ha! doubt anyone noticed I'd gone. These things have a habit of running themselves.

Hexanaut

The first gig I did after Biosphere, and the first truly Psionic party. Liebling made me do it.

Jungle Dean turned up and gave us our first drum + bass set; pity about the sound system; we managed to destroy all but one speaker.

Sequential

Sequential was one of the best productions of '95. 300-350 turned up on a bitterly cold night in May, cramming themselves in the tiny little box that is now The Hole in the Wall bar. At one point the space was so full we had to stop letting them inside, so they all stood outside freezing.

The music began with a solo 909 set by the LRS, and drove thru endless, searing acid & trance with Mechanism from Auckland (signed on Industrial Strength Records), and the Headstrong crew.

My favorite memory from it is (co-organiser) Mr Eden and myself counting out the doortake on a cafe table at eight in the morning, having not slept, ordering the poor waitress to bring us cornflakes, toast and caffine, caffiene, caffiene.
