Roots Foundation New Frontiers

From its beginnings in September 1992 Wellington's Roots Foundation Sound System have provided dancefloors with the finest and freshest reggae, dancehall and dub. DJs Mu, Lemon and Goosebump are the three founding members of the sound system and the key to its long lived successes.

Presenting their first Wellington gig of 98 in April, The Roots Foundation aim to secure their place in the history of Wellington dance once more. They will be not only providing the freshest reggae flavours, but adding to it more recent dancefloor favourites in their 'New Frontiers' party at the Boatshed on April 9th - Easter weekend!

Core member DJ Lemon is the owner of the southern hemisphere's largest, quality reggae collection. Lemon has been elemental not only to the Roots Foundation, but to dancefloors all over Wellington since 1992. When asked about the 'New Frontiers' concept Lemon is quick to mention that the Roots Foundation have always prided themselves on the highest quality sounds, and they will continue to not only supply those sounds, but introduce new forms.

Lemon says "I will continue to play rare and heavy reggae, but there will always be a place in The Roots Foundation for evolution". The Roots Foundation Sound System tackles these new frontiers on the night before good Friday, a great way to start your long weekend.

The main men Mu, Lemon and Goosebump are joined by newest member, Radio Active Breakfast host and popular drum and bass DJ, K-Tel.

New Frontiers features a host of New Zealand's premiere live acts also, killer drum and bass artists 50Hz and The Nomad, plus local favourites, funk outfit Bongmaster and newcomers The Headz.

"A commitment to local and live content has always been evident at our parties, we believe it brings that extra potentency to our sound" says Roots Foundation promoter John Pell.

This element of live music mixed with the traditional sounds of The Roots Foundation selectors, plus the new forms of DJ K-tel will make for a great combination of dancefloor delirium. "From the roots of dub to the roots of drum'n'bass, we are the original providers: The Roots Foundation chronicle continues its ascent"
