1. Good news for those seeking further coverage of their releases and artists:

I'm now writing for Magicfeet (the print and online magazine based in Nottingham UK with distribution in North America and Europe). Monthly Reports (i.e. columns) are still being published in print in VICE (Montreal), FIX (Los Angeles), Streetsound (New York), and EVE (London UK), plus reviews and features for these and The Coast (Halifax).

2. If you have not already done so, please note the new address and website for Cognition Audioworks:

Andrew Duke
Cognition Audioworks
1096 Queen Street Suite 123
Halifax NS Canada B3H 2R9
http://www.globalserve.net/~cognition
TEL, FAX, and email remain the same

3. For those in the music industry, the Cognition Audioworks website will function as a resource tool for all Cognition Audioworks radio/Internet/print coverage of electronic music: all columns, reviews, and features will be posted here (http://www.globalserve.net/~cognition) immediately after they are written. You will be able to have tearsheets of your material often a month before the print versions appear in the above magazines.

In addition, older columns/reviews/features are being archived for your convenience. Current, upcoming, and past Cognition Audioworks radio and Internet shows are also listed and promoted on this site with details on guest DJs, world premieres, interviews, contests, and the like.

4. For music consumers, the Cognition Audioworks website is being promoted to those looking to listen to and read about upcoming (immediate postings) and already available (archived material) house, techno, and electronics artists, DJs, and releases. Cognition Audioworks radio and Internet programming is promoted with display ads in every issue of VICE, FIX, EVE, and The Coast, and now the Cognition Audioworks website URL and information will be included as well. There is a banner ad for the site on WIDR.COM and links from WIDR and STREETSOUND.COM. If you have a site of your own, I would encourage you to link to the Cognition Audioworks website. ; The site is crosspromoted on the Cognition Audioworks radio show as well. Readers and surfers who check out the Cognition Audioworks website will be able to hear (in RealAudio or syndicated radio in various areas) guest DJs, world premieres of forthcoming releases, interviews with artists, plus cutting edge sets of forthcoming material. They will also be able to read the reviews, columns, and features as soon as they are written (again, sometimes more than a month before print publication). Cognition Audioworks online written material to labels with websites or email addresses whenever a label is mentioned. Music consumers reading about your label/artist will be able to link to your site or send email should they want even more information.

5. The Cognition Audioworks weekly radio show and three weekly Internet shows are now being boiled down to a weekly syndicated 60 minute best-of package that will soon begin airing on the Belgrade radio and Internet station B92 and others. If you know of any radio stations/Internet stations in your area that might like to air this program (with guest DJs, world premieres, interviews, features, cutting edge electronic music), please email names and contact information.

6. In addition to regular interviews, more live to air radio interviews will now be done on a weekly basis. Taylor Deupree and Dietrich Schoenemann (12k and many others) will be interviewed live from New York on the May13th show; Pimp Daddy Nash (Eighth Dimension) will be interviewed live from Orlando on the May 20th show. These live radio interviews can also be used for later Internet rebroadcast and possible online/print publication.

7. world premieres of forthcoming full length artist and DJ mix releases on the Cognition Audioworks radio show and Internet shows are generating an excellent response: how does a "world premiere" work? Get me a cassette, DAT, or CDROM of a forthcoming full length release with plenty of info at least a month in advance of commercial release. The release is then played as a world premiere (i.e. played out in full on the radio and Internet --for the first time anywhere--with a related contest.) usually a minimum of two weeks before streetdate. Comments from radio and Internet listeners have been 100% positive to these promotions. The number one comment is: "Thank you. Sounds great. Glad you are doing this." Usually five copies of the premiered release are given away. This in itself is great promotion because the number one comment in relation to the contests is: "If I don't win, I'm going to go buy this release." These world premieres are promoted well in advance--through display ads, the website, and the shows themselves--and can guarantee much worldwide exposure and "buzz" with just one advance copy. Additionally, all who've joined the Cognition Audioworks email list (again, promoted through above channels) are emailed advance notification of world premieres, guests DJs, etc, so there is a regular, builtin audience along with those who see/hear the promotions.

Vinyl tests (preferred), plus advance cassettes, DATS, CDRs, and promos CDs for review and radio/Internet airplay are always appreciated. Please include plenty of info along with the release date and distributors (Magicfeet in particular requires this information when reviews are published). Emailed updates (news/forthcoming release info) can be sent anytime to Deadlines for receipt of review material submissions for various Reports: HOUSE: 21st of every month; TECHNO: 5th of every month; ELECTRONICS: 5th of every month Thank you.
